Auditions
Casting - An Oxford Playhouse Learning Department Production
These roles are for 4 performances in the Burton Taylor Studio Oxford. The Production is called Tru-umph and three short plays will be shown in one evening.
The plays are the winners of the Oxford Playhouse new writing competition 2008 read by Gareth Machin of the Nation Theatre Studio.
There is no fee but £50 will be paid to each actor to cover travel expenses.
To put yourself up for any of the roles, after carefully reading the breakdowns below please submit a CV and cover e-mail to sarah.dodd@oxfordplayhouse.com. Your details will be forwarded to the respective director.

Audition date for casting with director, Joe Austin, for the following breakdowns is tbc.
Norman Brailey: Playing age 35 - 50+. Age is unimportant but must be authoritative figure who is able to put people at ease and must also be educated and intelligent. There must also be a shifty quality to
Simon Jones: Playing age 25 - 35. A young and disaffected soldier who has been affected by the war (WW1). Must have an edgy quality and the capacity to fly off the handle.
Jenkins: Playing age 40+. Officer class. Old fashioned type of officer, who is definitely at least upper-middle class, but a man who cares about his men. Brash but kind.
Auditions for the following pieces will be on Tuesday the 19th of Auguat at The Oxford Playhouse with Director, Ellen McDougall

Play 1
GILLIAN: 50-60, intelligent, dry-witted. A keen gardener. Stoic. Very English.
GERALD: 50-60. A broken man, recently suffered from a stroke so appears crippled. Emotionally drained; possibly mentally disturbed. History of alcoholism.
Audition - please read the whole script and prepare the following sections:
GILLIAN: page 2 from 'Fooled him didn't we...' to '...she duly arrived by post'. And pages12-13 from [Gerald Sobs] end of play.
GERALD: pages 10-12 from 'Mr.Thornburn, how old are you...' to '...all we ever seemed to do was argue.'
Ellen will ask actors to read through these sections a couple of times including a discussion of the character and the plot of the script overall
Play 2
PEYRON DE SAGNES - white male, 20-30 playing age. Argumentative, quick-witted.
YEHUDA BEN YITZHAK - white/mediterranean (Jewish ethnicity), 25-40 playing age.
NUR AL SAYED - Ethnicity Arabic, 25-35 playing age.
FARYAD - Any ethnicity, playing age 20-40.
Audition Ellen will ask actors to read through some sections of the play a couple of times including a discussion of the character and the plot of the script overall.
