Playhouse Productions

Oxford Playhouse is one of the country’s best-loved and leading theatres, and has a proud tradition of presenting the very best of international drama, dance, music, opera, comedy and children’s theatre.

Over the past twelve years the Playhouse has also been producing its own work, presenting productions here in Oxford and on tour nationally and internationally. We are committed to making theatre for everyone and producing work of the highest quality. Our aim is to share with our audiences the very best in writing, acting, directing and staging. The Playhouse has received funding from Arts Council England to extend its operations to include producing and touring. We are delighted to be able to share our work with audiences across the UK and overseas.

"Oxford Playhouse’s recent policy of mounting their own in-house productions has, so far, been spectacularly successful, with a series of first class shows to their credit. Long may it continue."

Spot's Birthday Party was a faithful and highly theatrical interpretation of the classic books by Eric Hill for 2 - 6 year olds.
During the performance children were treated as if they were a guest at Spot's Birthday Party and invited to join in the activities and games. There were nursery rhymes to join in, colour and number integration, musical statues, a short dramatic play within the play, and further fun and games to create a full and memorable theatrical experience.
